Students and their families are encouraged to buy local produce in order to prevent pollution caused by shipping from thousands of kilometers away, thus reducing the carbon footprint; to reduce waste resulting from packaging and to reuse and recyle plastic fruit and vegetable containers. Students will find practical ways of reusing plastic containers at school and at home; they will inform the public at a local supermarket about the benefits of consuming local produce; they will educate the public about ways in which they can reuse plastic containers.
