During one week, from November 18th to the 22nd, the primary School CEIP Tirant lo Blanc of Alzira is going to quantify food waste in its school canteen. In these 5 days, we will measure the amount of food that is thrown away in the first course, second course and dessert. With this, we will make an initial diagnosis, measure the Kg of food that is wasted, analyze the causes and implement a plan to prevent and reduce food waste in the center. Parallelly, we will start a communication plan aimed at the educational community to raise awareness.  Also, students, teachers and families of the center will carry out awareness actions with the intention of reducing school food waste.

The students will participate in educational workshops in the classroom with us. In these workshops, they will raise awareness about the waste problem, and we will organize a school gleaning, to collect non-commercial crops in the fields and donate them to social entities. With the teachers, we have organized a training school where we are going to elaborate a didactic guide to work on this topic in the classroom. With the families, we will organize a food recycling workshop and an anti-waste party in each participating school.

At the end of the school year, in May 2025, we will carry out a second quantification and calculate the success of our intervention. We will compare the data from the first and second waste audits and calculate the % reduction thanks to the awareness campaign and the implementation of the prevention plan.
