During the European Week for Waste Reduction (16^th -24^th November), a campaign will be launched to raise awareness about the importance of preventing and reducing food waste in educational institutions: schools, high schools, and universities in the city of Valencia.

This campaign will utilize the results of the #LaComidaNoSeTira campaign carried out by Valencia Innovation Capital—the innovation center of the Valencia City Council—and the NGO Justicia Alimentaria. This campaign ran from 29^th September—International Awareness Day on Food Loss and Waste—until 16^th October —World Food Day—to raise awareness among students about food waste, healthy eating, and the sustainability of local food systems. The action taken by each educational center consists of measuring the food waste generated during lunch. Students weigh and measure the organic waste produced in one day, which they have previously separated from other types of waste, such as plastics or packaging. A total of 21 schools participated, with nearly nine thousand students measuring over 90 kg of food waste, equivalent to almost 300 linear meters, which translates to more than 600 lunch portions.

The results of the measurement will be communicated through a video showcasing the actions taken in the different schools, which will be used to raise awareness among the entire educational community and the public during the European Week for Waste Prevention, as well as shared through social media by the involved entities and other media (radio and television interviews). This initiative not only promotes food and environmental education but also aims to empower young people to become agents of change in their communities, contributing to a more sustainable future.
