Two compost bins have just been purchased and will start being used on the 16th of November, 2024. One of them was placed in the Kindergarten area and one in the Primary area. A leaflet with information about the usage of compost bins in English and Maltese will be placed in each class so that teachers and students can refer to them. During EWRW the students will start depositing organic material from their lunch boxes into the compost bins during breaktime under the supervision of their teachers/KGEs. Ancillary and administrative staff monitor the process for efficiency and record keeping or related information. Photos of activities related the above process are taken by educators and uploaded on the school Facebook page by designated administrators. Throughout the year teachers and KGEs organise class activities related to this school project in combination with curricular subjects. Teachers and KGEs are encouraged to organise cooking activities with the students using fresh fruit and vegetables to enhance awareness about the relationship of compost to the fertility of the soil and the production of food.
