15 composters will be placed in school units located outside the areas where the brown bin network has been developed, while small indoor brown plastic bins with a capacity of 50L will be distributed as well.

The action aims in educating students in the composting process, so that the bio-waste they produce can be separated and recycled at the source, for the production of compost , a natural fertilizer/soil improver.

At the same time, there will be presentations of composters and their proper use in schools, and there will be given information on the composting process and on the waste that can be recycled through a composter.

The distributed equipment is part of the project “Biowaste management actions in Chanea Municipality (excluding RECODE implementation area)” with MIS code 5052164 and is financed by the Operational Program – Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development 2014-2020(YMEPERAA) which is co-founded by the European Union and national public contribution.
