WHAT will be done

Description:

Gaziantep University Engineering Faculty Industrial Engineering Department desire to participate to European Week for Waste Reduction with the aim of raising awareness among students, teachers, and the local community about creative ways to utilize fruit and vegetable peels.

In the current curriculum of Gaziantep University, we have TDP101 and TDP 102 Social Awareness Project I and II courses where we can organize such activities.

During the event, we will organize:

Informative events: In collaboration with Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, we will organize informative meetings on creative ways to utilize fruit and vegetable peels.

Creative activities: Students will participate in a series of creative activities, such as brightening face masks with citrus peels, making citrus peel to add flavor by adding extra flavor, natural cleaning material from citrus peels, sauce made from fruit and vegetable peels, compost with fruit and vegetable peels, pickles from onion and garlic peels, orange peels for desserts, vegetable chips from potato peels, home scent from fruit peels, decorative candles from fruit peels, pots from fruit and vegetable peels, face mask from vegetable and fruit peels, jam from watermelon and melon peels and bread from fruit and vegetable peels.

Workshops will be organized for proper management of utilizing fruit and vegetable peels.

Fruit and vegetable peels collection: We will collect fruit and vegetable peels from students’ homes, which we will show how they can be used at school.

Community outreach: Informative leaflets and posters will be created and distributed to the local community, promoting utilization of fruit and vegetable peels.

Our goal is to:Disseminating fruit and vegetable peels and raising public awareness

Also, We desire to make our university a model university for sustainable development due to our gastronomy city.

Inspire students to become ambassadors of creative in their families and communities.
