On behalf of the founding municipalities (Municipality of Piran, Municipality of Izola, Municipality of Koper, Municipality of Ankaran), the Inter-Municipal Administration of Istria raises awareness and educates our citizens and visitors in the field of environmental protection.

This year’s European Week for Waste Reduction (ETZO), which will take place from 16 to 24 November, puts food waste at the forefront. The slogan will be Food Waste is out of taste.

Last year, Slovenia discarded about a tenth more food waste than the year before, on average as much as 78 kg per capita of Slovenia. This amount could be much smaller if our attitude towards food were different and we ensured that edible food would not end up in waste. Food is lost or wasted throughout the supply chain, placing an unnecessary burden on limited natural resources and the environment.

That is why this year, for the first time, we have prepared a logo with which we want to draw attention to the problem.
