Collecting food items which are about to expire to be donated to local food banks (collection from shops and individual families who would like to contribute).
Creating info-graphics to highlight which left-over food items can be fed to common household pets or other animals, since not all food items are pet safe (data from Animal Awareness Day held on the 17th of October will be analysed to identify the 4 most common pets in the school population).
A collaboration with Hospitality students who will prepare meat dishes (as per syllabus) and put aside remaining bones and vegetable scraps which will then be converted into stocks which can then be utilised as a base for soups and sauces. EkoSkola students will first prepare recipes and then create the stocks.
A survey with tuck-shop staff will be held to analyse the food waste present from the tuck shop (if any) and if so, how purchases are calculated.
Researching which common food seeds and pits can be potted for new plants to grow.
