The Tesco Foundation has been supporting the fight against food waste for a long time. It cooperates with long-standing partners in supporting the distribution of food surpluses, strengthening the infrastructure of the Food bank and implementing educational activities. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Tesco Foundation in 2020, the grant program “Food Rescuers” was launched, in which the foundation supports the best projects aimed at actively supporting measures against food waste in Slovakia. Since 2020, the Tesco Foundation has donated 140,000 euros to support projects that contribute to the reduction of food waste as part of Food Rescuers. In addition, the Tesco Foundation supports a number of other projects from other areas as well.

In October Tesco Foundation has already announced the 5th year of its Food Rescuers grant program. Non-profit organizations, municipalities, schools, kindergartens, as well as contributory organizations can apply for support in the total amount of 40,000 euros, which will submit a project focusing on the fight against food waste. The Food Rescuers grant program is one of the most important activities with which Tesco Foundation contributes to solving the problem of the consequences of food waste in the world.
