An information action on bio-waste management and household composting will take place at the former Markopoulou Camp in Chania. Officials of DEDISA S.A. (OTA) and the Municipality of Chania will inform citizens about the proper management of biowaste and ways to reduce food waste. Through audiovisual material, information on the reduction of organic waste at home will be provided through the mobile infrastructure of the Municipality of Chania, the Mobile Urban Living Room “MULaR”.

Participants will receive comprehensive information about the household composting process, including the types of materials suitable for composting, practical instructions for the direct disposal of materials, and guidelines for the correct usage of the composter.

The objective of this initiative is to encourage citizen participation in the sorting of organic waste (biowaste) and its conversion into compost to help reduce overall waste.

The distributed equipment is part of the project “Biowaste management actions in Chanea Municipality (excluding RECODE implementation area)” with MIS code 5052164 and is financed by the Operational Program – Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development 2014-2020(YMEPERAA) which is co-founded by the European Union and national public contribution.
