Ongoing actions including:

1. 1530 kg of electronic waste were disposed of responsibly through WEEE
2. In a bid to encourage our employees to recycle more and better, we initiated a series of regular posits BIN IT RIGHT, where we helped our people understand the culprits and remedial action we may take in a bid to bin it right.
3. A module dedicated to the Why? How? What? Of recycling was covered in an e-learning module. Given the importance of this topic, we have made this module compulsory for everyone within the BOV Group.
4. We have provided apposite bins across BOV Centre in Sta Venera for staff to throw away any BCRS bottles and cans. These are then recycled so that the money collected goes to animal charitable organisations, as opposed to landfills.
5. (I) New clause in agreements with third parties, requesting digital invoicing; (ii) negotiating with ARMS so that bills are received in digital format, not physical – representing saving 2000 papers a year
6. The Bank has implemented Docusign, the Digital Signature technology, with a view to reduce paper. These are being used across the Bank, both internally and with customers. It is estimated that in 2023, we shavede 13,036 sheets of paper. In 2024, till the end of September, we saved 48,327 sheets – 3.5 times more than the previous year.
7. The Bank digitalised monthly payslips and annual FS3s. Based on 2200 employees, this resulted in annual saving of 26,400 A4 Papers and envelopes. Likewise in the case of FS3s, we saved 4,400 A4 papers, envelopes and printed labels.
8. Launch of BOV MobilePOS – retailers, including delivery persons, doctors on call and hawkers can now accept digital payments using their mobile device, instead of the POS. We are saving on the hardware of the machine, as well as providing receipts by sms/mobile, so less use of paper.
