The Western Regional Council has conducted several cleanups during 2024 in various localities that form part of the Region.
These cleanups were:
- Ħad-Dingli, at Dingli Cliffs. (1 Sept 2024).
Various car parts and other bulky litter collected from the cliffs with winches with the assistance of the Civil Protection Department.
- L-Imdina, at Għar Ħammiem. (7 Sept 2024).
With the assistance of Rabat’s Girl Guides, litter and bulky waste was collected from this neglected area.
- Iż-Żurrieq, at Ġnien il-Ġibjun. (14 Sept 2024).
With the assistance of Żurrieq’s Scouts, litter and bulky waste was collected from this area known for hiking and picnics.
- Il-Qrendi, near Ħaġar Qim and L-Imnadrja Temples. (14 Sept 2024).
Litter and bulky waste was collected from this conservation area rich with heritage and nature.
- Ir-Rabat, near tar-Ruub/ Fomm ir-Riħ Cliffs. (25 Sept 2024).
Litter and bulky waste was collected from this nature sensitive area, known for its hiking trails.
- Ħal Kirkop, near the cemetery/ Barracks of Armed Forces of Malta. (26 Sept 2024).
Litter and bulky waste was collected from this area where used a lot for residents to go on peaceful walks, and picnics in the vacinity.
- Ħaż-Żebbuġ, near Wied is-Sewda. (28 Sept 2024).
Litter and bulky waste was collected using diggers and also with the kind assistance of Żebbuġ Scouts. This area is known for residents to go for walks and picnics in the vacinity.
- Ħal Safi, near rural area known as ta’ Gawhar. (28 Sept 2024).
Litter and bulky waste was collected in this area known for residents to go for walks in the countryside, and picnics.
- L-Imqabba, Triq tas-Sejba and locality overall. (23 – 28 Sept 2024).
Litter and construction dust sweeped from Triq tas-Sejba, various water runoff culverts cleaned from debris, and various street signs and traffic mirrors cleaned from construction dust to be more legible. All with the assistance of the Maintenence and Cleansing Department of Malta. (No video – only photos)
All cleanups were in coordination with the respective Local Councils.
During the cleanups, video footage was taken and will be published on our Social Media during the EWWR week.
