SEEDS ARE RECYCLED TO CROPS, WASTE IS RECYCLED BACK

As part of the European Waste Reduction Week from November 16-24, around 300 students in our city will separate packaging waste and create seed balls.

Nearly 300 primary school students will visit the Çanakkale Municipality Seed Chest, where they will first reduce their waste by sorting the packaging materials they’ve collected and leaving them at the Mobile Waste Collection Center. Then, they will plant the seed balls they’ve prepared with their own hands in the Seed Chest garden.

The harvest of winter-appropriate seeds such as radishes, chard, etc., will take place a few months later, and the same students will collect the produce. In this way, the students will not only understand the importance of waste separation and recycling by sorting packaging waste, but they will also witness the process of growing and harvesting products from the seeds they planted with their own hands.

At the end of the activity, students will receive “Seed Ball Shooter” name tags, and after the harvest, they will be awarded the “Environmental Heroes” certificate.
