Vikings Sailing Club organised a seabed and shore cleanup of Marsamxett Harbour on the 21st April 2024. This event was part of an Erasmus+ project called Clean Run Race. The event was implemented in collaboration with Sportmalta and supported by Saving our Blue and the Floriana Local Council. Officers from the Armed Forces of Malta Maritime Squadron and their divers also joined the event to assist with the seabed cleanup. Several volunteers including young sailors, their families and friends helped to clean up different shore areas around the Harbour and to carry up items from the slipway. This clean up resulted in the collection of almost 1400kgs of waste including glass bottles, tyres, metal tubes pieces of broken glass, plastic floating on the sea surface and lots more. Between the 16th and 24th November the Club will showcase and promote the action through dedicated posts on its Facebook portal.
