St Michael School – Action for Change
• WHAT will be done
Description:
Action 1: Monday 18th: assembly and EkoSkola students outreach in break regarding the sorting out of waste and recyclables. The installation of new signage and bins outside in the playground. Introduction of new bins for the local BCRS scheme.
Action 2: Litterless Lunches during the whole week (18th – 22nd) – students will be asked to bring lunches to school which give off the least amount of litter possible. Classes will be monitored for a possible winner.
Action 3: Clean-up of the area covered during the Weekly Mile (Wednesday 20th) by students who sign up for this walk, and Clean-up of the playground for those students who stay behind on the same day during break time.
Action 4: Call for proposals from the school and staff body to solve the following issue: Many parents/guardians send in communications/money/applications to the class teacher using a paper envelope that is usually torn up and thrown away. How can we reduce this waste of paper? Can we have something that is reusable and fun that will serve this purpose? Suggestions will be collected in a Suggestion Box during Waste Reduction Week, then the EkoSkola Committee will take it up from there.
