During the past two scholastic years, our school has embarked on a project of all waste separation. Waste separation started in the school’s grounds and namely during break. This has now been extended to all classes, grounds and common areas. Everyone in our school community is collaborating in this: students, educators and ancillary staff.
In the past months, the school embarked on a project of restoring our college’s library. In our library, we are dedicated to sustainable practices through the waste recycling method.
The wooden shelves, instead of being discarded, were fixed and reused, preserving their quality and saving resources. We also worked on restoring the tiles by polishing and fixing them, giving the library a refreshed look without unnecessary waste. All old wooden windows and doors were restored to their former glory. These measures helped preserving our library’s architectural heritage.
For our mini libraries in classrooms, we used recycled paper boxes, promoting a creative and eco-friendly approach to storage. Here we also included a number of books for students to access during free lessons.
Additionally, we make it a point to separate all scrap materials, including plastics, metals, and paper, ensuring they are recycled properly. If we come across any used paper with a blank side, we save it for reuse as scratch paper for notes and other tasks.
Moreover, the library team is dedicated to restoring old books, breathing new life into worn-out pages and covers, preserving knowledge for future generations. These efforts not only help reduce waste but also encourage a culture of responsibility and sustainability among students and staff.
Our college strongly believes in the holistic education of our students. It is vital that together we support Sustainable Goals and to support further the cause, a number of voluntary clean-up activities are organised. The following links are an evident of some of the voluntary work in cleaning up public spaces which was carried out last scholastic year.
