Continuing it’s long-term tradition in environmental programs, the middle school of Soufli located in the region of Evros, Greece decided to carry out an awareness action of cleaning the local community from waste materials.

The school will participate this year as an action developer having the support of the Center of Environmental Education of Soufli (“KEPEA”) that operates in the region since 1996.

Description: Students along with their teachers and the assistance of the experienced staff of “KEPEA” will venture to the rural area around their school and search for every kind of waste (garbage, organic, plastic etc). They will be equipped with recycling bags and special grippers to help reduce the waste disposed in the broader area.

By implementing this action, students will have the opportunity to boost their environmental awareness and actively contribute to the well being of their natural habitat.

This action was decided democratically by the teaching faculty of the school on the aftermath of the disastrous fires of August 2023, the largest in European territory. It aims at restoring faith in the hearts of native people and hopes to give a proud call to other educational institutions of Evros to follow.
