Ataturk’s Garden
• WHAT will be done
Description:
Every year in all schools in Turkey, 10 November is celebrated with commemoration ceremonies and activities organized as “Atatürk’s Commemoration Day”. We show our respect to our ancestors with the flowers we present in front of Atatürk busts in our school. We determined the theme of our commemoration ceremony as “Atatürk’s love of nature”. With this theme, we aimed for our students to learn the thoughts of the world leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on this subject and to make them a part of their lives.
Our school, which is a member of the “Global School Program”, is making various arrangements in our activities with studies for sustainable development goals, which are of critical importance for the future of the planet and its people.
In this context, our students brought potted flowers to present to our Ata in the first part of our ceremony, the Respect for Ata Walk. We aimed to open our flower beds during the European Waste Reduction week by planting the potted flowers in the flower beds to be set up in the designated areas of our school.
We aimed to create colorful and ecological spaces in our school with this event where hundreds of hand flowers are used every year and all of them are thrown away.
