‘Beauty and the Bean’ is a project in collaboration with a chain of coffee shops within our Borough which will explore the additional uses and benefits of spent coffee grounds. During the week we will visit coffee shops and present different ideas for using spent coffee grounds in the home or garden. This will include using grounds for beauty treatments and fertiliser.

The idea behind this is that we encourage people to consider the use of an array of chemicals within the home thereby reducing the impacts on waterways and our marine environment. It also makes use of a resource which is largely landfilled and the growuth of a cafe culture in our area means there is an endless supply of raw materials.

As well as practical demonstartions there will be information available to customers and this will also be promted through social media.
