Clean Green

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is promoting a new approach to personal and domestic hygiene by encouraging people to make their own cleaning or hygiene products. These simple options can all be made in the home using readily available materials and will reduce our dependence on chemicals in many ways.

‘Clean Green’ is an information campaign highlighting the key issues around the prevalence of chemicals in today’s society and the impact these can have on people and the planet but will also offer and encourage practical alternatives for cleaning oneself, clothing or the home in general.

We will feature examples people are already using to show the application of some of the suggestions and we will invite people to contribute their own thoughts and actions through social media and email. The information will be available via a fact sheet and throughout EWWR we will showcase different examples using social media.

We will also work with retailers of environmentally friendly cleaning or hygiene products to ensure an increased awareness of their availability and this will complement awareness raising of how easy it is to make your own at home.

The project has an inbuilt waste minimisation element and will encourage people to recycle any recyclable material currently used for cleaning or hygiene. Through making your own products you will use less packaging and therefore generate less waste which has to be managed.
