The European Week for Waste Prevention will be marked on the social networks of the Municipality of Oliveira do Bairro with the dissemination of results and information on the various projects that are implemented in the municipality, within the scope of waste management.
During this period, the Individual Ecological Footprint Calculator will be released. This online platform is available at https://www.cm-olb.pt/p/pegada_ecologica, and allows for the impact that day-to-day habits have on the planet.
The results of the various waste management projects implemented by the municipality will also be published. The project “Separar para mais Reciclar”, in operation since April 2021, which currently covers more than 3700 homes and shops in the four parishes of the municipality. The pilot project “Dar Valor é Dar Vida”, implemented since July 2021, which collects bio-waste door-to-door from 50 houses in the municipality. Another project whose results will be published is the pilot project “Separar para mais Poupar”, which seeks to test the implementation of the “pay-as-you-throw” (PAYT) tariff system in the city of Oliveira do Bairro.
Finally, the Oliveira do Bairro Waste Sustainability Observatory will also be publicized. This online platform, available at https://residuos.cm-olb.pt/#/home, allows monitoring of various municipal indicators related to waste, information on projects, recycling tips and lots of other information.
This digital/online action seeks to raise awareness among a wider audience of the importance of the correct separation and disposal of waste, as well as the prevention and reduction of waste production at the source – our homes.
