The Siggiewi Local Council, in collaboration with the Children and Youth council, and a group of University students from S-CUBED organised a clean-up from cigarette butts at Għar Lapsi Bay during the summer months, where around 8 empty 2 lt. bottles of cigarette butts were collected from the rocks around the bay and from the caves. Other litter and bulky items were collected too.

The participants did not want the event to end there, and to leave a long lasting effect, they distributed portable pocket ash-trays, together with printed Slogans and educational facts to the sunbathers present.

The campaign was promoted on facebook to raise awareness “Fish don’t smoke! Don’t leave your cigarette butt behind”.
