Free compost for Belfast schoolsFree compost for Belfast schools

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

Food and garden waste collected in Belfast by Belfast City Council is recycled into compost right here in the city. It is treated and recycled into compost and then used locally by councils, farmers and others to add organic matter to the soil. Farmers and community gardens use it to grow food for the local communities within Belfast and Northern Ireland.

To celebrate EWWR we will offer schools a free quantity of this compost that is made from their own food waste, to help their school gardens grow and thrive, as well as providing an opportunity to learn about food waste recycling. As such this is a perfect example of circular communities recycling waste for a better world.
