WHAT will be done

Description:

One of the activities held during the EWWR was that all our students had the opportunity to plant seeds into the reused plastic bottles which were brought to the school from their homes.

Plastic bottles are made from a petroleum product and they require huge amounts of fossil fuels to both make and transport them. Thus being aware that they leach dangerous chemicals into the ground or even sometimes they infiltrate our streets as litter, we decided to also make our students aware about this fact and show them how they can reuse while having a new product for a good cause. Thus students brought reused plastic water bottles for this activity which is aimed to minimise the amount of waste by making aware not only our students but also their parents.

Seeds of indigenous trees were planted in the water bottles which they will grow in small plants which later on will be given to P.A.R.K.s Malta to be distributed around our island for a better environment.

This action instilled awareness in the students to avoid the need for drinking from bottled water, to use a refillable bottle when they are on the go, and refill it whenever the option arise and to collect “all plastic bottles” to encourage the students’ families to minimise waste and make it easier for the students’ families to recycle.
