From disposables to reusables
• WHAT will be done
Description:
This year our school participated in the EDIC project – The European Direct Information Centre – in which students conducted a research on how much water is used in the production of different textiles and particularly denim. With the parents’ help new items are being created from old pairs of jeans. The items produced will be sold during EWWR and the funds collected will be donated for the building of boreholes in Kenya. Mesh bags for fruit and vegetables will also be given to students to take home.
During EWWR students will be visiting the fruit/vegetable section of supermarkets, and inviting customers to use mesh bags instead of plastic bags. They will be offering mesh bags to each customer.
Other students will be visiting different shopping outlets, giving out cloth bags which parents and staff members have sewn in exchange for plastic bags they might be using.
