I Give A Shirt, Ballymoney
• WHAT will be done
Description:
Council is working with 3 secondary schools in Ballymoney with a total enrollment of approximately 1800 pupils. The 3 schools collaborate through a joint schools Council consisting of 6 pupils from each school. This year the schools are implementing a new campaign called ‘I Give A Shirt’ This has a number of key aims:
1. To highlight the environmental, social and economic impacts of fast fashion
2. To show through peer education, information and practical engagement that everyone, regardless of age or social background can make positive lifestyle changes to address the impacts of fast fashion
3. To collect quality clothing items from pupils aged 12-18 for resale through a local charity shop
4. To liaise with the charity partner, Can Can Bazaar, in making the shop more appealing to young people aged 12-18 culminating in a section of the shop being re-designated for this age group
