Investigating, evaluating and taking action about the packaging of many items bought and found everyday at our homes, and their environmental impact.
• WHAT will be done
Description:
At the beginning of the EWWR week, the Eko-Skola members will communicate with all the school community, regards the theme and actions for this year’s campaign.
An awareness campaign will check all the school’s stakeholders:
- through a google form, parents, students and educators will input if they have knowledge or not, of excess packaging;
- students will be asked to compile a list of at least 8 items and describe what packaging it had;
- students will be asked to indicate if the items mentioned above, had excess packaging;
- students will be asked to suggest what sustainable alternatives can be used to eliminate as much as possible single use packaging/objects;
- at school, regular check-ups in each class, by the Eko-Skola committee members, will monitor whether excess packaging is present in the lunchboxes;
- if foil, clingfilm, plastic bags, plastic bottles, etc are found, the Eko-Skola committee members, will explain why and how this is unnecessary. These must be eliminated completely.
After all this, during the morning assembly, Eko-Skola members will describe the findings of the above. Further suggestions and actions will be implemented during the rest of the scholastic year.
Awareness on the fact that recycling should always be the last alternative. The other Rs always come before.
