L'era dei rifiuti
by Ateneo Sostenibile dell’Università di Firenze
Abstract: In the last seventy years, man has dug and drilled our planet, depleting its resources. The waste weight, on the other hand, is getting heavier, slowly overflowing. Just think of the plastic waste that is dispersed in the seas and oceans, in parks, in flower beds, and on the edges of roads. Today, it is impossible to think of the number of plastic masks and gloves that will be thrown away in the environment if we do not start behaving responsibly. Electronic waste, containing toxic and dangerous substances, is shipped to developing countries, where the lack of adequate facilities for their treatment causes water and air pollution, mining the health of the environment and the population. The result is that the planet is progressively running out of resources while waste is growing due to a highly consumer society. A question spontaneously arises, is it possible to change the scenery and consider waste a resource so the natural ones can be preserved for future generations?
