The Local Council has thought about helping out the 2 churches of Ta’ Kercem and Santa Lucija and also the St Therese convent to start using oil lamps and abandon the idea of having to use candles in plastic containers.

The Local Council has already held meeting with the 3 entities who are very willing to participate in this initiative. The Local Council will buy the containers and will also provide several boxes of bottles of oil for the entities to start with. Eventually, the entities will only need to buy oil instead of candles which will result in sparing hundreds of candles being trashed each month from the churches.
