Lisburn Food Bank Collection

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

LCCC Environmental Health will act as a repository for LCCC staff to drop off extra food items, starting during EWWR 2018 and running until the end of November. These items will be distributed to the Food Bank in Lisburn which is run in partnership with local churches and led by Kingdom Life City Church, 1-3 Graham Gardens, Lisburn, BT28 1XE.

This initiative will reduce Food Waste and help to address Food Poverty.
Food poverty is a very real and alarming issue within our Council area and within the last year these food banks gave out 3,182 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis. This initiative will allow us to play our part in what is an extremely worthwhile community based cause to help those within our communities in crisis and help fulfil our own corporate commitment to reduce health inequalities and protect the most vulnerable.
