Our school is within a valley, where the typical eco-system is that of the maquis type. It is a green area as we enter/leave the school. Unfortunately, disposal of waste is a sore subject as this maquis area often ends up receiving unwanted plastic, such as plastic bottles.
So I would like to showcase the amount of plastic this area has by cleaning it up with my students. Also, our school is co-ordinating an Erasmus project that is all about soil and how we treat it, so I’d like to combine these two projects together. Therefore, through this activity we will be raising awareness about proper disposal of waste so as to avoid many problems such as contaminating our soils and polluting habitats for so many important species.
