WHAT will be done

Description:

Mid Ulster District Council is carrying out a variety of actions, ranging from a communications campaign with local press and on social media to a staff swap shop to a schools event to waste reduction talks with schools and youth groups:
• Photocall with our Environment Committee Chairperson, Councillor Ronan McGinley and a press release to local press (16 Nov) and posted on our Council website (18 Nov)
• Environment Committee Chairperson, Councillor Ronan McGinley interviewed by Q Radio to promote EWWR and call all residents of Mid Ulster to take action (15 Nov)
• Internal emails to approx. 700 staff to promote EWWR and give ideas for ways to reduce, reuse and repair and to signpost to online resources (18 Nov)
• An email to all schools in Mid Ulster to promote EWWR and give ideas for ways to reduce, reuse and repair and to signpost to online resources (16 Nov)
• Posts on social media using #EWWR2017 to promote EWWR to all of our residents in the Mid Ulster area (throughout EWWR)
• Release of a video on social media to show how householders can reuse and repair household items, hosted by an inspirational householder from Mid Ulster demonstrating what she has reused and repaired (20 Nov)
• Release of the EWWR reuse video on Mid Ulster social media channels (22 Nov)
• Holding a staff ‘swap shop’ in Mid Ulster Magherafelt Council offices 20-24 Nov
• Hosting a meeting for school teaching staff in Mid Ulster in Dungannon Council offices, 22 Nov, to promote waste reduction and recycling in schools
• Carrying our EWWR themed waste reduction and recycling talks to schools and youth groups during EWWR:
i. St. John’s Primary School, Coalisland 20 Nov;
ii. New Row Primary School, Castledawson, 20 Nov;
iii. Holy Trinity Primary School, Cookstown, 20 Nov;
iv. Orritor Primary School, Cookstown, 21 Nov;
v. Aughnacloy Squirrels, 23 Nov;
vi. Gaelscoil tSeanchai, Magherafelt 24 Nov;
