#MissieMinder 2022 is the third edition of the yearly action day from MOS, Sustainable schools, Smart schools. 
Schools that participate, introduce their students to conscious consumption. It is no coincidence that #MissionLess takes place on Black Friday. (25/11/2022)

Every year, a different theme is put in the spotlight. In 2020, the theme was food loss. In 2021, we tackled the single-use plastics. In 2022, we put the spotlight on textiles.
Textiles are indispensable in our lives: our clothes keep us warm, they also show who we are and what we stand for. Textiles are also used to make bed linen and towels, carpets, curtains, car seats, beach chairs and so on. On the other hand, the fashion industry is one of the biggest industrial polluters worldwide. Production requires water, lots of water (2700 l for 1 T-shirt). 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions are caused by the production of clothes and footwear. Microplastics are released during textile washing. Every year, half a million tonnes of microfibres end up in the ocean this way. And at the end of the chain, the equivalent of a truck’s worth of clothing waste is dumped or incinerated every second worldwide. (source: https://ovam.vlaanderen.be/duurzaam-met-textiel).

How can schools participate?
Organise an action with your school, a class or a group of students. Get inspired by the actions on our “sales list” or come up with your own action. Register your action and win a nice prize.
Make the action day visible at and around your school with our promotional material. Show that you participate by sharing the action on social media with the hashtag #MissieMinder

Pira the rat is the “face” of #MissionMinder. For the youngest children, a short story is offered to introduce the action to them.
