‘No Junk Mail’ Stickers
• WHAT will be done
Description:
We have a big problem locally where at least 3 time a week most letter boxes in the country are filled with junk mail; be it a shoppers guide or literature on deals and discounts.
As a result, for over two years we have been producing and handing out for free a ‘No Junk Mail’ sticker. We started as an initiative for Waste Reduction Week in 2018, along with other smaller initiatives (a sponsored clean up, handing out informative colouring sheets on recycled paper, and selling stainless steel straws). However this is one we kept up as we saw that it was making a difference and had a great response with our patrons.
We decided not to brand the ‘No Junk Mail’ stickers, as we didn’t want people to feel that they would be promoting our business or have this initiative hindered in some fashion. It has been incredibly pleasing to see these stickers being utilized by the community. A small moment of triumph was when we had seen one of our stickers in Gozo, which is our sister island to Malta, which meant that this little sticker did a little bit of traveling.
Unfortunately due to Covid-19, this initiative has been viewed as an extra cost which cannot continue to be sustained, and we will be winding it down at the end of November 2020. Before we put a bow on this initiative we’d like to invite those who have not had the opportunity to pick up a free ‘No Junk Mail’ sticker to get one.
We know that this is a small, almost insignificant initiative that we’ve dedicated to over the last two years, but we believe every little bit helps. Let’s all help in whatever way we can.
