Our Mayor of Beylikdüzü, Mr. Mehmet Murat ÇALIK, will call the food and beverage sales representatives operating in our district through our municipality’s social media accounts. Since it is known that restaurants, cafes and businesses serving packaged food and beverages use a lot of disposable packaging products during packaging, and especially considering the high demand for takeaway service after the COVID 19 epidemic, it is observed that there is a very serious amount of product consumption. In the online call, businesses will be asked to come and eat at restaurants or cafes instead of takeaway service, or to give a discount if they buy drinks with their own glasses/mugs. The campaign is between 18-26 November, specially for Waste Reduction Week, and businesses that heed our President’s call will be included in the campaign with a short video message saying “We also heed our President’s special call for Waste Reduction Week and offer special discounts”. In addition, together with the personnel of the Environmental Protection and Control Directorate and the Beylikdüzü Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, all tradesmen will be visited and intensive participation in the project will be ensured. After the program, how many businesses are included in the project and how much discount is given, how many customers benefit from the discount, and the change in the takeaway service rate will be reported.

The call that our esteemed Mayor will make to the tradesmen in our district from his social media accounts;

“Recently, we have often heard negative news about Climate Change and Environmental disasters. Unfortunately, our resources are rapidly depleting and we have to think about the children who are our future. It is in our hands to leave them a livable world. It is celebrated all over the world with awareness activities as European Waste Reduction Week every year between 18-26 November. This year, the emphasis is on “reducing packaging waste” and we have been using disposable packaging products a lot in our district, especially with takeaway food and beverage services to homes or workplaces, which has increased after the pandemic. Specially for the Waste Reduction week, we want the businesses that provide takeaway service in our district to give extra discounts to their customers who prefer to eat on-site at restaurants or cafes, or to their customers who come to buy their drinks with their own mugs or glasses. Businesses that want to participate in the campaign will only need to tag our municipality with the short video “We heed our Mayor’s call and offer special discounts for waste reduction week.”
