Our students came up with several actions to reduce waste and avoid packaging.

1. Packaging Challenge – Students in our school will post images of themselves with their actions against packaging for e.g. using a reusable mesh bag when buying fruit and vegetables or buying reusable products instead of single-use products. The images will be posted in the class’s TEAMS group to act as awareness of what we can do to reduce waste. Each class at our school will be competing against each other and the class with the most points will win the challenge.
2. Kahoot game – The whole school will be participating in a Kahoot game during the school assembly to act as an awareness of the packaging problem, inform students and staff how to separate waste correctly and give ideas of how to reduce packaging. We chose Kahoot in order to have a paperless activity.
3. Video – Students will put together a number of actions to reduce waste in the form of a video. This will also be shown during the school assembly.
4. School Case Study – Students will find out the amount of waste that our school creates on a weekly basis and also check if this is separated properly. They will obtain this data by carrying out a short interview with the head of the domestic staff and also check the bins in the different rooms in our school. They will also come up with solutions to reduce our waste and to make sure that the school members are well informed on how to separate waste correctly.
