Description:

On the basis of the European week of waste reduction, Fo.D.S.A. South Aegean S.A. plans and implements actions to inform and raise awareness among citizens regarding the basic principles and fundamental values of recycling and reuse. In this context, the operation of an information kiosk on Nikolaou Plastira Street in the Madraki area, Rhodes island city center (opposite the Aktaion building complex) for the period 20-24 November 2023, where citizens will be able to be informed about sustainable practices in the field of sorting, is part of this , collection and management of waste and waste. In particular, at the stand there will be available stands with QR codes which will redirect, among other useful websites of other Sustainability efforts and Organizations (such as JustGoZero.com), to a dedicated webpage (currently under construction) of the Fo.D.S.A South Aegean S.A.’s official website (wastefreeaegean.gr) where content related to topics such as recycling and composting will be displayed. Informative videos with sustainable recycling and composting practices will also be displayed at the kiosk, while citizens will have the opportunity to be informed by the employees of the Organization about sustainable recycling and composting practices.
In order to ensure the familiarization and acclimatization of the younger ages with the specific values, the Organization will at the same time execute necessary actions in order to inform students of the Fifth and Sixth grades with the above topics during the period of 20- November 24, 2023 in five primary schools of the city of Rhodes. In order to better conduct the actions as well as for reasons of feasibility, these will take place in one primary school per day of the week, with the aim of carrying out 5 visits lasting one teaching hour to an equal number of primary schools during which the employees of the Organization participating in the action they will be able to visit the selected primary schools and inform the children about the intended purposes. For the needs of the action, the Organization’s employees have created and composed informative and entertaining content suitable for children, such as digital slide shows, interactive games, digital games and videos that convey the basic principles and values promoted by the Organization and, specifically, about recycling, composting, waste reduction (prevention), sorting at source, circular economy.
At the same time, as part of the actions and activities carried out, within the period 20-24 November 2023, the Organization has also planed for the visit of Primary school students to the infrastructure of the Center for Sorting Recyclable Materials (CSRM – KDAY in Greek) in Northern Rhodes (Tsairi region), where the students they will be able to visit the sorting and temporary storage area for recyclable materials and observe the stages that take place during the receipt of recyclable materials, their separation and ultimately their channeling to the recycling market.
Finally, within the framework of the organized action, it has been decided to create and place 12 posts in total on the Organization’s Facebook page which will cover a range of thematic items from the thematic categories “Recycling”, “Sustainable Waste Management”, “Environmental awareness of the new generation about recycling”, “Waste Reduction”, “Sorting at Source”, “Packaging” and “Environmental Awareness”.
