PlasticSmart encourages people to rethink attitudes to single use plastics in our homes, workplaces and communities. We can all make simple changes whether it is refusing, reducing or finding alternatives which have much less impact.

During EWWR we will promote our PlasticSmart accreditation programme available to schools, churches, businesses and the community/voluntary sector. This is a simple 5 stage prorgarmme of activities and after engaging in these the body receives a locally produced wooden plaque to celebrate their efforts.

This is an inclusive award because it does not require a complete ban on plastics rather a commitment to working towards reducing or eliminating single use plastics where appropriate.

Churches and businesses will be a particular target over EWWR. Council staff are on hand to support all those interested in participating.
