We decided to prohibit the use of party poppers with plastic confetti, plastic straws and the release of balloons at Bahar ic-Caghaq Campsite in April 2019. This was included in the Campsite Guidelines.

We started to phase out the use of plastic straws from our routine usage.

As well we were noticing the introduction of party poppers with plastic confetti during birthday celebrations by our scout members. These were obviously adding plastic litter to the area and an action was taken.

Release of balloons could be easily avoided therefore we included it as well as it harms the surrounding areas and marine life.

Biodegradeable bags are recommended to be used to clean up after their pets.

The campsite is mainly used by our members and other Scout Groups. These set of guidelines are sent beforehand by e-mail to the scout group visiting the campsite and as well attached at the entrance of the campsite room.

During EWWR, photos of this action will be shared within our facebook page (for all parents and our members) and with all 8000 scout members through Scoutkeeper to create further awareness and the importance of not littering outside.
