La recogida segregada de materia orgánica es un punto fundamental para el objetivo de reducción de residuos y, debido a la nueva normativa europea, algo obligatorio antes de que acabe 2023 dentro del territorio europeo. Por esto, desde la desde la Concejalía de Transición Ecológica de Rivas-Vaciamadrid y la Empresa Municipal de Servicios Rivamadrid, dentro del Plan de Economía Circular “Con R de Rivas”, iniciamos un proyecto piloto para comprobar qué modelo de recogida se adapta mejor a la ciudadanía del municipio: puerta a puerta o aportación en contenedores en calle.

Para comprobar qué modelo se adapta mejor y obtiene mejor calidad de residuo, escogimos la  zona noroeste de la ciudad e invitamos al vecindario a sumarse al proyecto. Contamos además con 12 comercios de hostelería y 4 centros educativos adscritos al proyecto. Diseñamos un sistema que incluye gamificación a través de la App de comunicación con el ciudadano Mejora Tu Ciudad,  y un pequeño concurso para quienes consigan los mejores resultados. Realizamos talleres informativos y ofrecimos apoyo para resolución de problemas y dudas. Es  importante añadir que los contenedores en calle no cuentan con cerrojo ni tarjeta, son de depósito libre.

Gracias a estos esfuerzos de sensibilización y comunicación y a la respuesta de la ciudadanía, tenemos una bajísima tasa de impropios, sólo 3% eran residuos no orgánicos!

Organic waste collection is one of the main points for waste reduction and, due to the new European regulations, mandatory within the European Union by the end of 2023. For this reason, and integrated in the Circular Economy Plan “Con R de Rivas”, the  Municipal Enterprise Rivamadrid along with the Ecological Transition Councillorship of Rivas-Vaciamadrid city started a pilot project to check which collection model best suits our citizens: door-to-door household  or street open containers deposit.

To test which form is best adapted and obtains the best quality of waste, we chose the northwest area of ​​the city and invited the neighborhood to join the project. We also have 12 commerces and 4s school centres adhered to the project. Our system includes gamification through the Citizen Communication App “Mejora Tu Ciudad” (Improve Your City) and a special prize for those who achieve the best recycling results. We held informative workshops and offer citizen problem solving  service and support. A major detail is that the containers on the street do not have a lock or identification card to open them, they are free deposit. Usually, this implies a huge improperties rate. But thanks to these awareness and communication efforts and the response of the public, our improperties rate is only 3% !!
