Recycle and Reuse to Embellish Recreational Zones
• WHAT will be done
During this week the Local Council is going to embark on phase 2 of a project which we’ve started some months ago. We found two areas in our locality which needed a creative revamp and thought about doing something innovative using only recycling material. Some items, such as tires, are a huge headache when it comes to waste management and have an impact on the environment. So as a Local Council, given the number of mechanics and garages operating from our village, came up with the idea to recycle these tires into colourful waste bins. Apart from these bins we are also using pallets which have been left in streets as bulky waste to create tables and chairs in the said areas. We want to create a recreational corner. The idea is also to do shelves from thrown wood and create a mini outdoor library with second hand books.
Apart from this action, the Local Council will continue informing the residents of the village by distributing a calendar highlighting what day one should take out the black garbage bag, the recycling bag and also the glass collection schedule. We will also inform them where the Bring in sites and the Clothes bank are located.
