A campaign is launched among our 1,500 workforce and their families to collect WEEE material from homes and across our branch network of 40 branches. During the week tips to reduce waste both at home and at work are communicated through our intranet system. Works with Electronics limited, sent for recycling, will email and promote during the week.
Other recycling material collected would consist of used batteries collected from bins placed in our branch network consisting of 40 branches for the public to participate. Also collection of used toners for recycling purposes.
A special initiative is also held with our IT Dept to dispose of outdated/replaced electronic equipment in the proper manner. This would amount to circa 1 ton of material recycled. During the year equipment which is still in good working order are donated to various NGOs. Communication will be held internally. will try and get photos to use during the week to promote the work that has already taken place.
From a philantropic point of view, another initiative taken throughout the year consists of donating used/replaced furniture to various NGOs and thus prolonging their lifespan. Another initiative is the collection of plastic caps which are then used for philantropic purposes during the Christmas period. In 2015 BOV collected 174 Kg of these plastic caps.
