Recycling

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

We will start by compiling data to show how many households have not yet considered waste separation.

We will ask the students to ask their parents/guardians why they don’t use the recycling bag at home. Ex: lack of space/ misconception of smelly recyclables/
no time to do it/ no idea about collection days for recyclables/ no bags available/ etc…

We will hold a special assembly whereby the Eko Skola students address their parents to explain to them why it is so important to start recycling. We will prepare posters to be hung around the school to remind students and visiting parents to separate waste. The Eko Skola students will bring some waste from home and they will do a short demonstration, showing in which garbage bag, each item needs to go (on the day of the week when recyclables are collected). We might invite over the Local council rep and they hand out free bags to each parent.

At the end of next term, we will ask the students to gather some data regarding how many parents have decided to switch to recycling. We hope that by that time, the numbers will be improved.
