WHAT will be done

Description:

Sign up for PlasticSmart Scheme through local council aiming to reduce plastic use and increase recycling in Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council with simple, practical actions.

Sign up for Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s ‘H20 On The Go’ scheme which aims to encourage us to reduce our reliance on bottled water and make tap water freely available for visitors and pupils who bring in refillable drinks bottles instead.

Compost fruit and vegetables in our school compost bin.

Create angel Christmas decorations from recycled card cones.

Litter pick in our school grounds.

Continue to collect unwanted clothes and textiles for Cash for Clobber Scheme.

Encourage all to continue to reduce, reuse and recycle paper products in school.

Encourage waste free lunches – Eco committee will provide information on waste free lunches at assembly previous week and parents will be informed.

Reduction in use of resources -switch off electrical appliances not in use throughout the school day, turn off lights.

Ensuring doors/windows are closed to reduce loss of heat.

Create posters to publicise hazardous waste prevention and share information with pupils and parents about Eco-friendly cleaning products and how to reduce hazardous waste.

School website and social media will be used to publicise actions and give advice for parents and wider school community.
