Reducing Plastic Packaging at School

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

  • Hold educational presentations and talks, collaborate with educational organizations about the importance of plastic reduction, and measure the plastic waste in our school for a week before the EWWR’s events.
  • Organize plastic-free school events across the classrooms with the help of parents (plastic containers and bowls of multiple uses from home are allowed, but we will strongly encourage other creative ideas).
  • Make beeswax wraps with students and parents to avoid aluminum foil or plastic bags for nuts, sandwitches, and fruits.
  • Fill empty plastic detergent bottles with DIY products that we will make at school for classroom cleaning
  • Visit local markets to find out products in bulk and make catalogues
  • Use fabric bags to take school lunches home for students who don’t stay for lunch
  • Declutter classroom cupboards and use up all art materials before getting new
  • Avoid water in plastic bottles, ready-made coffees, snacks, and juices in plastic containers, and plastic straws. We will make coffee only at school using our own mugs and bring fresh juices and snacks in reusable bags, containers, and bottles.
  • Art work with waste plastic bottles and bags
  • Start recycling plastic, paper, glass, and aluminum in the classrooms and in the school yard.
  • Disseminate our activities in other schools, the school blog and in social media
  • Make posters, presentations, and/or digital books with our suggestions and results
