One of the reasons to reduce waste is to conserve space in our landfills and reduce the need to build more landfills which take up not only valuable space (space we do not have) but they are also a source of air and water pollution. After waste reduction, reuse is the second most preferred waste management option. Reuse is the practice of using an object over and over again in its current form. By re-using an item, one is preserving some or all of the energy and materials that went into making an item. This year for EWWR, Esplora has come up with an online campaign of the dos and don’ts in waste management. Everyday, we will be uploading something interesting and fun for everyone to learn.In Malta, waste separation starts with the consumer i.e households must sort out their waste and place them in separate bins and containers. It is this country’s aim that a large part of the waste generated in Malta is either re-used, composted or recycled because this saves resources and protects the environment. In order to practice waste reduction our campaign will only be available online and on our screens at Esplora, whilst always keeping in mind to promoting EWWR 2021.
