Repair Cafes
• WHAT will be done
Description:
North London Waste Authority is launching a new series of Repair Café events, to help repair damaged belongings and fix broken household items for free. By repairing items which we already own, it stops us having to buy new stuff. This has a positive impact on the environment (and our wallets) as raw materials can be preserved and items are prevented from becoming waste.
Repair Café will be events where people can bring along old or damaged belongings such as clothes, small household furniture items, and bicycles to be potentially fixed by repair specialists, for free. In addition to fixing an item, the repair specialists will train people through one-on-one repair process, so that people can repair their item themselves in the future. A Repair Café will be a place to interact with the repair specialists, learn skills and build a relationship with the processes and materials that go into the manufacturing of products.
