Reuse and upcycling of old sails

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

Each bag is a sail, each sail has a story.

Bolina Sail produces bags and accessories in recycled sail, hand-made in Italy.
Born in 2013 in Lignano Sabbiadoro as an artisan laboratory, the project has evolved over the years to become a refined atelier of formal and material experimentation, in search of a new poetics of reuse between elegance and functionality.

The sails recovered by Bolina Sail have finished their adventure at sea and after a careful selection and cleaning process they can come to life in new forms: the sail fabric is a material as resistant as it is difficult to dispose of, and it adapts perfectly to being reused and turned. At the origin of the recovery process there is the awareness that each sail is unique and bears the marks of its own journey, which constitute its intrinsic beauty through which its story is told. Bolina Sail returns this uniqueness by packaging its products by hand in a completely artisanal way.

Bolina Sail is based in Lignano Sabbiadoro, a small peninsula between Venice and Trieste that overlooks the lagoon on one side and the Adriatic Sea on the other: the sea is at the center of this landscape, and the company wants to promote through its products also respect for the environment and for increasingly fragile and threatened ecosystems.

The action we propose is to reach more and more people who have old sails and recover them before they are thrown away.
