WHAT will be done

Description:

Activities to reduce textile waste will have a significant social impact as well as emphasize the importance of waste minimization. The awareness of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality (SMM) Social Store (The Second-Hand Store that citizens in need of assistance and registered under Department of Social Services can shop free of charge) will be improved. The store will be enriched with many kinds of textile products with the activities described below in 21-25 Oct. Thus, the number and pleasure of citizens in need of assistance will increase. The employees of SMM and educational institutions, the participants of educational institutions, students with their parents, but also citizens that attracted attention via introduction tools will attend to this project. Allowing products to be used to their fullest extent will conserve natural resources by decreasing the demand for new ones. Achievement of waste reduction will provide both social and environmental benefits via these activities at the week-long. Having a limited amount of natural resources and a limited capacity to generate waste, building a more sustainable future and our responsibilities for these points will be explained to the students. Planned actions will be introduced via social media, billboards, posters, etc. during the event week.

21/11/2022: 

  • The participants of sewing classes at Adapazarı Public Education Centre will be asked to bring and convert textile stuff not used. SMM Social Store will be introduced to the participants and they will either take the converted products or leave them to be taken to the SMM Social Store.
  • With an official letter, the employees of SMM will be asked to leave unused textile stuff  in our department.

22/11/2022: 

  • The participants of sewing classes at Adapazarı Public Education Centre will be asked to bring and convert textile stuff not used. SMM Social Store will be introduced to the participants and they will either take the converted products or leave them to be taken to the SMM Social Store.
  • With an official letter, the employees of SMM will be asked to leave their unused textile stuff in our department.

23/11/2022:

  • The participants of sewing classes at Karasu SMM Art and Vocational Assistance Courses will be asked to bring and convert textile stuff not used. SMM Social Store will be introduced to the participants and they will either take the converted products or leave them to be taken to the SMM Social Store.
  • With an official letter, the employees of SMM will be asked to leave their unused textile stuff to our department.

24/11/2022:

  • Secondary school students will be asked to bring unused textile stuff. The students will be taken to the social store to visit and leave their stuff at the SMM Social Store. Students will be given a presentation on the waste reduction and its importance.
  • The participants of sewing classes at Arifiye SMM Art and Vocational Assistance Courses will be asked to bring and convert textile stuff not used. SMM Social Store will be introduced to the participants and they will either take the converted products or leave them to be taken to the SMM Social Store.

25/11/2022:

  • Secondary school students will be asked for to bring unused textile stuff. The students will be taken to the social store to visit and leave their stuff at the SMM Social Store. Students will be given a presentation on the waste reduction and its importance.
  • All textile products collected during the week will be delivered to the SMM Social Store.
