The activities which are part of the campaign Reusing and Recycling fabric- Creativity at its best! include the following:
1) During the week between 14th and 18th November all the students in the school should bring any fabric/bags/ jewellery/scarfs/blankets/shoes/belts etc, which they do not need anymore at home.
2) The collected fabric will be reused in order to decorate our school (both primary and secondary) during this week as a preparation for Christmas time. The activities which will be done during waste reduction week includes: a) Fabric scrap ornament
b) Christmas baubles
c) Snowman sock with rice
d) Fabric ornament
e) Fabric magnets
f) Christmas gnomes
g) Christmas themed banners
These will be done from all our classes on Friday 25th November and will be used as decorations for Christmas. After the Christmas period, these will be stored in bags, so that they can be reused next year.
Additionally the Ekoskola group will be start preparing some of these ideas (from fabric), which will be sold later on during the year and the money collected will save a turtle. Some ideas which will be done from the collected fabric are:
b) Coasters (to put a mug on)
c) Fabric bags
We will try to invite the parents of our students’ to come and help us so that we will try to create as much as possible from this products.
Additionally, during waste reduction week we will also starting preparing for an interview we are going to have with Samira Axiak, an Instagrammer about thrifting and inspo, during which Ekoskola students will ask her about her experience (as she was also part of Ekoskola in the past). We may invite parents for this event as well but it has to be confirmed.
Lastly, we will also be helping in the initiative that the Regjun tan-Nofsinhar will be doing as part of the EWWR. This means that they are going to provide us with a clothes bin and anything which we do not use or we do not see that it’s important for our projects, will be given as a donation to them for their EWWR Project.
